I am a nationally accredited (‘advanced’ level) family, workplace and elder mediator. I work with clients in resolving disputes through mediation, restorative practices and coaching services. I am also a Director of Open Road Consulting which provides leadership and team development services to build trust in the workplace.
Prior to working as a mediator, I worked extensively in the government and community sectors for over 20 years and hold a Bachelor of Economics, Masters of Industrial Relations, and Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution.
My interests include supporting newly arrived refugee families through the CRISP program (https://refugeesponsorship.org.au) and coaching soccer teams of all ages and abilities. I live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne with my partner, three young adult children and dog Pepe.

Like many people, my career has taken lots of twists and turns. I trained as an economist and worked in policy and research in government for many years. Working in government roles, I felt too removed from the community and really wanted to work more closely with people. Volunteering in the community really helped, but I still wanted to do more.
In 2009, in the midst of evaluating a family relationship centre, I met with family mediators, and it was a lightbulb moment. I loved what they were doing and I could see how much they were able to help people who were desperately in need of support through a most difficult time.
I trained and gained accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and worked for some years as a family mediator for Relationships Australia. Around 2017 I decided to use my skills to support people in workplaces, and worked for many years as a workplace mediator. Different settings and different conflicts, but still helping people who are really struggling in difficult situations.
Most recently, I have become more aware of the disputes that arise in families with an elderly parent. I trained as an elder mediator, and now support families in quarrel with each other or an aged care facility, who only want the best for their elderly relatives.
And then I discovered pet mediation, sorting conflict with warring factions of a shared pet ... Jill Murphy Mediation can help with all of this. I got you.
